Bargaining Update Progress Report & Upcoming Events banner

Hello fellow YUSA Members:

Since our last update on October 11, the YUSA Bargaining Committee met with the Employer on October 15, 22 and 23. Both YUSA and the Employer have shared additional proposals and counter-proposals at these meetings.

Tentative Agreements

YUSA and the Employer have reached tentative agreement on the Articles and/or Letters below :

  • Letter of Understanding: Joint Decolonizing, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (DEDI) Committee
  • Article 33.02: Tuition Fee Waiver Benefit Program

Winter Holiday Schedule

The Employer continues to reject our proposal for a winter holiday schedule that would give you and your colleagues two full weeks off (similar to TMU and U of T). While the Employer emphasized they value your work, that does not equate to valuing YOU, the worker. The Employer insists you use your own vacation or lieu time rather than grant you time off. We will continue to bargain this item.

On October 24, 2024, YUFA, along with other faculty unions and the students represented by YFS, called on the University administration to provide a two-week winter break.  Read the letter addressed to Rhonda Lenton below.
